Essay title:
“Compare and contrast two psychological perspectives on mental health. Critically evaluate each perspective and support your answer with research evidence.”
Note: You can choose a specific subtopic within mental health to fit your interests and course objectives. For instance:
Depression among adolescents; Anxiety among students;
Depression among the elderly
Which psychological perspectives are the best choice?
We will cover five perspectives in 5001PY: (1) biological psychology, (2) social psychology, (3) cognitive psychology, (4) developmental psychology and (5) individual differences. For your essay, you must consider two perspectives, but you choose which ones. Make sure to
clearly list which 2 perspectives you are writing about at the beginning of the essay.

Grade release date
Grades will be released 3 weeks (for level 4 & 5) and 2 weeks for levels 6 & 7) on Aula after your submission date. The module leader will inform you if there are any changes to this date.

1. Demonstrate understanding across core domains of biological psychology, social psychology, cognitive psychology, developmental psychology and individual differences.
2. Critically evaluate psychological theory and research drawn from these core domains.
3. Appraise the contribution of multiple perspectives in psychology to real-world issues of global relevance.
