The European Offshore Wind Deployment Centre (EOWDC) is Scotland’s largest offshore wind test and demonstration facility which is being developed by Vattenfall-owned Aberdeen Offshore Wind Farm Limited.
The EOWDC will be located 2.4km offshore in Aberdeen Bay, and once operational will provide 70% of Aberdeen’s domestic energy. The construction site is located at Blackdog, a small village adjacent to a nature reserve, just north of Aberdeen.

You have been appointed as a Risk Management Consultant to advise on this project. Your report should cover the following:

• The risk management systems applicable in the U.K. to this project, with respect to the three risk areas; health and safety, environmental, and socio-political.
• Independent and integrated methods of managing these three risk areas.
• Identification and assessment of the main hazards facing the project with respect to these three risk areas.
• Consideration of business impact analysis, corporate social responsibility and ethics.
• The relationship between business continuity and risk management in terms of overall strategic risk management.
• Recommendations to be made to the company regarding the best risk management approach for this project

• BSM521 will also use Vattenfall for its assessment. If you take both of these modules, you must not reuse work submitted in one module, for the other, as this risks self-plagiarism.

Coursework Aim:

To demonstrate an understanding of the challenges of risk management, in particular the integration of risk management systems. Further, to critically analyse the role of corporate social responsibility, ethics and business
continuity with regards to corporate strategy.

Coursework Learning Outcomes:

1. Critically evaluate the integration of risk management systems in a strategic context.
2. Critically analyse the challenges of risk management.
3. Critically analyse the role of Corporate Social Responsibility and ethics in risk management systems.
4. Critically appraise the development, implementation and role of Business Continuity Planning with regard to corporate strategy.

Presentation Format/Instructions: (word count/report/essay/etc) All work should be academically underpinned and referenced appropriately.
Academic report – for the purposes of this assessment should include the following and be written in the 3 rd person:
• An Executive Summary
• Table of Contents
• Introduction with aim and objectives of the report
• Critical discussion using the literature
• Conclusions

• Appendices
