For this assessment, each student will be analysing two news articles for tutorial discussion and submission on two separate weeks. The emphasis is on identifying the marketing
implications for the events or incidents described in the article.
Prepare a write-up (in .doc or .docx format) of maximum of 600 words for online submission. The write-up should address the following three questions:
What are the key issues illustrated in the article?
Who are the important stakeholders?
What are the implications of these issues from the marketing perspective and how will these impact (positively or negatively) the stakeholders? Each article submission is worth 10% for a total of 20% mark for the unit. Weeks 1 and 2 have been allocated for discussion on sample articles. These sessions are designed to assist in the preparation for the weeks 4 and 6 submissions.
Be prepared to discuss your analysis of the article in the tutorial classes in weeks 4 and 6. Your tutor will take note of the participants in class. Distance/online/flex students will
discuss their analysis of articles 1 and 2 in the allocated Moodle discussion forum in weeks 4 and 6, respectively. Any assessment with a ‘Turnitin’ score of more than 25% will be checked by the marker and unit coordinator for potential plagiarism issue although it may not necessarily mean that you have plagiarised. If there is a substantial similarity score in the ‘Turnitin’ report, your assessment could be forwarded to an appropriate office/authority.
