Task: Complete one of the following options: OPTION 1: Apply one or more aspects of gender criticism and/or feminist literary theory to the task of interpreting Austen’s Pride and Prejudice and/or Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale. You may incorporate analysis of various transmedia adaptations of these works where appropriate, but not at the expense of analysing the original literary works. OPTION 2: How has a gender or sexual difference been made an issue in the study of literature? in what ways can the “lens” of gender be applied to literary and cultural texts? – Address the questions with reference to Austen’s Pride and Prejudice and/or Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale.
