August 8, 2024Assessment and Report Writing in Counselling
August 9, 20241. Introduction
Children are the future of our society and their health and safety must become a concern of society. Therefore the policies regarding this ensure the overall quality of a child and his well-being. It is recorded that five million children died due to any circumstance or incident in 2020. Unicef has recorded some common causes of child death among the highest number of children who died because of “infectious disease”. This study would discuss the health and safety policies in the workplaces of Australia and its hypothetical analysis would be developed along with a summary.
2. Discussion
2. Health, safety & wellbeing
2.1.1. Policy Summary
The Australian Human Rights Commission has described the Child Safety and Wellbeing Policy for the betterment of the “Workplace and Work Child Safe”. The policy ensures that the company and its activities must work for the rights of children and even if their staff are not in touch with a child, their activities must reflect the benefits of the child.
The responsibilities of the policy are to reduce the risks related to the children and provide a child-friendly environment (Child Safety – American SPCC, 2022). A child who is under sixteen gets appointed in an organization as an appointed intern or part-time worker. Therefore, the staff would tackle the worker and define the responsibilities of the employee. The codes related to their safety and security of them can be tracked as their attitude in them.
2.1.2. Hypothetical Analysis
The positive approach of this policy is it deals with the betterment of children and encourages their activity (Child Mortality – UNICEF DATA, 2022). An organization should award events attended by young people. The event promotes the security of the children and tries to safeguard them from every kind of harm.
Negative Sides of this health, safety, and wellbeing policy are made for the employees under the age of sixteen and therefore their staff should be trained and well educated in this policy. According to the organization’s policies, the legal department would deliver the legal procedures but there are times that the staff forget their duties which affects the employee’s psychology.
2.1.3. Critical assessment of policy
The policies are made for the enhancement of the children’s psychology and mindset of, the sustainability duties would mark their impact on the society and safety of the students (Association of Infant and Child Health Characteristics with the hazard of any medical condition or disability in Australian children, 2022). Today, professional experiences and knowledge are apart from theoretical knowledge therefore students apply for part-time jobs and internships in different organizations. Thus, caring about their health and mentality also their experiences. The risks of this policy are handling the children’s activities and their way of learning. Regular awards and encouraging events would drive the interest of the students. Encouraging them regularly will create a well-painted image of the professional world (Goldhagen et al. 2020).
2.1.4. Incidents, Injury, Trauma, and Illnesses
Under the service of Education and Care National Regulation, an approved provider should make sure that procedures and policies are in the right place for the incident, injury, illness, trauma, and injury(regulation 168) and take the required steps to make sure procedures and policies are followed.
2.1.5. Policy Summary
The procedure and policy should find out some requirements which are mentioned below, along with quality practices related to dealing with incidents, injury, illness, and trauma that align with the quality standard of the country.
2.1.6. Policy statement:
The main guidelines of this policy will reflect the philosophy of the service about how this service will act to manage and minimize incidents, trauma, injury, and illness that affect children being cared for and educated at the service.
2.1.7. Background:
The policy requires including a statement of why this policy is in the right place. As an example;
The Education and Care National Regulations need providers to make sure that their procedures and services are in the right place if a child becomes ill or injured, or any accident happens during service.
2.1.8. Legislative requirements:
The policy must be consistent with, and refer to, the requirements of the legislation for managing injury, incidents, illness, and trauma (Britto et al. 2018).
2.1.9. Role and Responsibility:
Here an organization in Australia must designate particular roles and rep[responsibilities for the staff. This needs to be lined up with the Education and Care Services National Regulations.
Approved providers must ensure that obligations under the Education and Care Service Nation Law and all the regulations of the National are met. They should make sure one more thing that the record of enrolment is kept for every child which contains all the information of prescription.
The nominated supervisor must execute the procedure and policy of the incident, injury, trauma, and illness. They should investigate the reason for any incident, illness, injury, or trauma and take the required action to remove the reason if needed.
Educators should record information as soon as possible and within 24 hours post-incident, trauma, injury, and illness. They should seek medical attention further if needed post-incident, illness, trauma, and injury.
Families give authorization in the enrolment of a child from the approved provider, nominated supervisor, or an educator to look for medical treatment for the child from a registered practitioner of the medical, ambulance, or hospital service and, if needed, transportation by service of an ambulance (Briggs, 2020).
2.2.0. Hypothetical Analysis
The independent authority of the Australian Children’s Education And Care Quality Authority works with authorities to administer the National Quality Framework, including guidance provision, services, and resources to assist the sector in improving results for children.
There are some ways of procedure and policy that organizations can implement the injury, illness, trauma, and incident policy. Some of the ways of areas under the National Quality Framework can be included such as;
- Where all the procedures and policies are kept
- When the last review is done
- Templates that can be needed or utilized as a part of the policy or procedure(e.g. Reports of incidents, safety checks, NQA It Systems Instructions for entering data, and assessments of risk)
- Systems to monitor the execution of the procedures and policies.
However, it is also to be noticed that while developing the procedures and policies required to be considered any risks related to different ages of children, stages of development, and physical capabilities (Monico et al. 2019).
2.2.1. Critical assessment of policy
In early childhood, illness, and disease spread very rapidly and easily from one child to another, even when executing the recommended infection and hygiene control practices. The policy is performed to prevent illness, injury, and trauma and to reduce possible accidents through risk management and effective practices of hygiene.
However, some of the risk assessments are addressed by this policy. A safety assessment is the systematic collection of information systematically which is threatens the conditions of the family and observes threats to the safety of the child. Injury and illness are the most common risk factors which occur in a child’s life. Risk assessment is a required component of the procedure of admission not only to address risk, however, but also to make sure that these effective strategies of the presentation can be executed. Early recognized risk factors are the forerunner to planning preventive care.
However there are some procedures to prevent those risks and to do that, it needs skill and multifaceted consistency and knowledge in nursing practice to ensure effective results for children at pressure risk under development. Skin assessment, risk assessment, pressure relief, and repositioning are fundamental components of pressure prevention. Tools of pressure risk assessment are the main key to deciding if a child is susceptible to Pls. validated assessment of risk for children is very effective and addresses those at risk and growing awareness of possible pressure-related injuries (Fattore, Mason & Watson, 2009).
3. Medical Conditions
3.1. Policy Summary
The moment hiring someone based on their abilities and qualifications. Before hiring someone all the medical conditions are judged and evaluated therefore all the medical conditions known previously so, it is the responsibility of the workplace that an employee with a special medical condition should be treated well (Child Safety and Wellbeing Policy, 2022). The regulations are made by organizations as well as the Government of Australia, with common medical issues like cold, flu, and other diseases along with serious medical conditions. Regulation 168 defines the child’s behaviour and actions related to their behaviour in an organization. Many medical conditions require serious care, thus the details of the child’s parent and the emergency precautions in that situation should be known to the organization.
3.2. Hypothetical Analysis
The policy forms a sense of responsibility among the employees and the authority is also differentiated by the employees as per the organizational law and ethics. Apart from that the data gathered by an organization and sent to the government then the extra value would be added to the data (Work health and safety | business.gov.au, 2022). Therefore, a serious record of diseases like HIV, Thalassemia, and Covid 19 was reported by the organization, and the overall affected data were sent to the government authority. The negative impacts are there are several times when the higher authority comments on something and that hurts the sentiment of the employees.
3.3. Critical assessment of policy
The medical condition-related policy has a larger impact on society. Serious diseases can be detected and recorded by an organization. An organization should always be careful about its words and actions toward an employee so that in any way medical condition gets criticized. The health condition of a respective individual is considered a vital aspect and possessing safety measures regarding the health of an individual plays a vital role in the betterment of the sustainability regarding the heath (inappropriate-discipline, 2022). Moreover, this respective policy looks upon the balancing and as well as coordination of the health of an individual which helps in enhancing the prevention capability against harmful viruses.
4. Infection Control
4.1. Policy Summary
Infection control is considered one of the significant vital elements for the betterment of the social environment based on children’s health safety. The respective policy mainly focuses on preventing infections and as well as maintaining the proper precautions regarding the safety of the health of the children. This respective policy of infection control regarding the safety of the children mainly focuses on the age groups of children between 1 to 14. As children are considered the future of society and as well as for the environment the policies mainly supervise and monitor the practices regarding hygienic and cleanliness maintenance around to avoid the spread of viruses. Moreover, the policy of infection control regarding the safety of the health of the children also provides reliable and as well as authentic valuable information regarding the management of information problems (“HOSPITAL INFECTION PREVENTION AND CONTROL GUIDELINES”, 2022). Furthermore to maintain the sustainability of the environment based on children’s health safety infection control and as well as prevention policy also manages the management of wastes around the society to prevent the multiplication of harmful germs to avoid the spread of infection. Additionally, the policy of infection control regarding children’s safety of health also looks into both outbreaks of harmful infection and as well as its safety and remedial measures for the control of the outbreak.
4.2. Hypothetical Analysis
The facilities of healthcare are considered vital aspects for the betterment of society and as well as the environment. Moreover, infection control and other policies regarding infection control or prevention are the most complicated elements of the management of healthcare as they deal with the serious issues of society. The facilities of healthcare are considered a risk factor but it manages for the betterment of society as it mainly terminates the chances for the spread of viruses. The policies of infection control also draw the positive sides to resist harmful viruses and look at the prevention of harmful infections. Moreover the policies regarding the safety of the children’s health. Furthermore, children’s healthcare for the control and prevention of infection also possesses to maintain safety and as well as sustainable healthcare facilities around the environment (Chang et al. 2020). Prevention of infection and prevention of the spread of harmful viruses which affect the environment.
Additionally, the policies regarding infection control also look upon the regulations and as well as governing of the local bodies to easily maintain the sustainability of the environment. Moreover, the policies also look at vaccination programs that help boost the immune system of small children and benefit the environment by developing sustainability. In addition, the policies also monitor and manage the administration of health care and safety which moreover looks upon the control and as well as prevention of infection in children.
The risk factor of drawing upon the basis of infection control is one of the dangerous factors. Identifying the public is considered a vital risk operation for professionals. Maintaining hygiene will help to avoid the risks. Moreover, the practices of safe injecting will help to cope with the risk factors (Mihai et al. 2019).
4.3. Critical assessment of policy
The policies of infection control mainly focus on the prevention of harmful viruses and as well as avoid the spread of viruses. Moreover, infection control is also an important asset in children and as well as in early childhood. As the children have a lower immune system the infection control benefits in minimizing the risk of affecting the virus infection the children. Moreover, infection control also looks at reducing the risk factor which looks at the harmful effects that are caused by the viruses. The respective policies for the prevention and as well as control of infection look upon enabling preparedness regarding emergencies. Additionally, the respective policy also manages the facility of isolation for the individuals affected by the infection and as well as viruses (Apisarnthanarak et al. 2020).
5. Conclusion
This study aimed to briefly discuss the policy or procedure for the health, safety, and well-being of the children. In this study, critical analysis is being done based on the roles and responsibilities of the policy, and risk assessment. Overall, this study defines the areas of action for the health promotion of children by promoting a public policy of health. A well-being framework of policy is aligned along with hypothetical analysis in this study. Information about infection control and medical attention is briefly analyzed in this study. In the end, the overview of the study critically evaluates the importance of this mentioned policy and how it can be implemented in the well-being of children.
