Unit 13: Task 1 - Managing Human Resources in Health and Social Care

Task One (a)

Context:

Using your own workplace or a chosen organisation within the sector of the health and social care sector design an information booklet that can be used for new staff in the HR department.

Your booklet should include details of the following processes:

  • Succession Planning
  • Change (organisational, policy, use of services, work roles, local circumstances)
  • Defining HR requirements; e.g. full time, part time
  • Job description and person specification; e.g. qualifications, experience, personal attributes
  • Advertising
  • Vacancies
  • Career Progression opportunities
  • Training and Development Needs

Unit 13: Task 3 – Managing Human Resources

There is no word count for this task, but you must ensure that your booklet fully explains the list of factors listed above.

Task One (b)

Context:

In your role as an employee/ trainee/ observer at your chosen setting, you will need to write an explanation of 1,500 words, detailing how relevant legislative and policy frameworks in the UK influence the selection, recruitment and employment of individuals. Your evidence should cover the following frameworks:-

  • Relevant and current legislation, e.g. Health and Safety at Work (1974), Equality Act (2010)
  • Codes of Practice and policies (relating to worker rights, health and safety, diversity, anti-discriminatory practice, care standards and protection of vulnerable people)

You will need to ensure that your report, firstly, provides a definition of your chosen legislation and policies, before explaining how exactly each one influences the selection, recruitment and employment of individuals working in health and social care.

 

Task One (c)

Context:

For this task you will need to first provide a definition of at least three of the following factors, then evaluate how effective they are in allowing health and social care organisations to select the best individuals for work in such settings:-

  • Shortlisting applicants
  • Models of selection (e.g. interview, audition, psychometric assessment and assessed task)
  • Involvement of stakeholders (e.g. members of the team, service users and external stakeholders)

This piece of work should be a minimum of 1000 words in length.

Submission Format

This assignment is in the form of a report and assessment. Task 1 (a) has no word count. Task 1 (b) has a required word count of 1,500 words. Task 1 (c) has a required word count of 1,000 words.
