Assignment Scenario I – Catering to LO 01 and 02 Mode of the Assignment – Report Word limit – 2,500 words
You are a newly appointed Human Resource Executive for a medium scale organisation with 1000 staff strength in Sri Lanka (if you are working in such an organization, you can use your own workplace or you can select an organization of your choice). Hence, you have been assigned with the special task to help the HR Manager further develop the HR Department. As your first task you are to review the effectiveness of the HR function within the organisation, researching the role and scope of HR and reviewing and assessing the main HR functions within the organisation. It is required to submit this as a report based on the following guidelines. 1. Provide a brief introduction to the organisation. 2. Introduction to the HR department of the organisation; briefly explaining the main functions carried out by it in relation to workforce planning and resourcing. 3. Explain how the effective implementation of the HRM functions explained under point 02 helps the organisation to fulfill its business objectives. 4. Critical evaluation on strengths and weaknesses of different approaches to recruitment and selection, providing specific examples. 5. Critically Evaluate the effectiveness of overall HRM practices and application in terms of raising organisational profit and productivity using a range of specific examples.
Scenario II – Catering to LO 03 Mode of the Assignment – Presentation with notes Word limit for notes – 1200 words Limit on Slides You are working for a HR Consultancy firm as a Junior Consultant and recently you have been appointed for a consultancy project on employee relation in a manufacturing. The CEO of this organization requires you to explain about the importance of good employee relation to achieve business goals & objectives during the Management Committee Meeting. You are required to do a presentation on the below points. 1. Analysis of the importance of employee relations and its effect on HRM decision-making. 2. Evaluate the key aspects of employee relations management & key elements of employment legislation that affect HRM decision-making. 3. Critically Evaluate the effectiveness of employee relations and the application of HRM practices to be an ‘employer of choice’.
Scenario III – Catering to LO 03 Mode of the Assignment – Document Portfolio with a report Word limit for notes – 1500 words As the Human Resource Executive of the organisation (selected in scenario I). You are currently assigned with the task of recruitment & selection and is required to provide the following document portfolio:
- Design a job description & specification for the given job role in the organization
- Design an advertisement for the given job role to be published in a newspaper
- Identify the most appropriate selection method for the job role mentioned in question no. 02 and prepare an interview evaluation sheet with suitable criteria
- An evaluation of the process and the rationale for conducting appropriate HR practices.
